Cans for a Cause
Every year, the Milwaukie Lions Club holds can and bottle collection drives to raise funds for our charitable service projects. These drives are typically held on a weekend after the Super Bowl and around Independence Day, at the former Bomber Restaurant parking lot on McLoughlin Blvd, from 9 am to 1 pm.
Where the Funds Go
The funds raised through these bottle drives support a wide range of Lions projects, including providing eyeglasses and hearing aids to local citizens, alleviating food insecurity through our Holiday Food Drive, supporting the Backpack Buddies program, and providing reading books to elementary students.
School Supply Drive
In July, we expand the drive to also collect school supplies for local elementary schools. All items are welcome, but the greatest needs in the classroom include crayons, colored pencils, Ticonderoga #2 pencils, glue sticks, pencil erasers, and folders. Later in the summer, the club purchases additional school supplies as part of our Adopt-A-School program to support students as the new school year begins.
Get Involved
Club members are willing to pick up donated cans, bottles, and school supplies. Please stop by and talk with some of our club members at the event — we are always looking for new members and community partners! Contact us to learn more.
