Backpack Buddies

Backpack Buddies serves more than 800 elementary and pre-school children in the North Clackamas School District who need food on the weekends. These are children in the subsidized lunch program who have food at school during the week, but face food insecurity when school is not in session.

Our Role

The Milwaukie Lions Club, with the generous support of Milwaukie Presbyterian Church, provides coverage for Oak Grove School. Each week during the 37-week school year, we supply a variety of food for up to 80 children — enough for at least two meals over the weekend. Extra food is sent home over holiday weekends and school vacations.
