Holiday Food Drive

We partner with Compassion in Action Clackamas County, who process the applications for families needing food assistance, and give a list of names to the various groups delivering food each holiday. They can be reached at https://www.ciacconline.org/

Each year we spend months trying to find a warehouse for this event, and this year is no different. Milwaukie Lions NEED A WAREHOUSE! Thank you Clackamas Sunrise Rotary!

From December 16-18 we will be sorting the canned goods and non-perishable food items collected from the schools of NCSD-12. Sorting will start at 6:30 pm December 16-18, and on December 19 we will pack 1200 boxes with those items. Volunteers are needed for all 3 nights.

On December 21, from 8 am until about noon, we will deliver to 400 families throughout North Clackamas County. Volunteer drivers are needed to carry deliveries, and to work in the warehouse loading the volunteer vehicles.

If you are interested in helping for any of these tasks, please contact volunteers@milwaukielions.org.

Since 1948 the Milwaukie Lions Club has spearheaded a Holiday Food Drive that benefits families in North Clackamas County.  Starting with only a handful of families, this project has grown over the years to include hundreds of families, serving more than 400 families in 2020. The Saturday before Christmas, we deliver to all the families with food amounts based upon the size of the family, and include toys for children under 12 years old.
The Milwaukie Lions Club and the Milwaukie Elks Lodge have partnered for many years to coordinate the food collection, funding and logistics for the food drive. The KGW toy drive has provided toys for the families with children.  Many other organizations and business provides support to the Lions club for this project:  North Clackamas School District Students and Staff, Life Christian Center, Wichita Family Supportcenter, Dave’s Killer Bread, Bob’s Red Mill, Norlift (providing a forklift), Lowes (providing shopping carts), U-Haul, Compassion in Action – Clackamas County, Botsford and Goodfellow. Most of these provide help or services free of charge.  In 2014, a building was donated by Phoenix Business Park in Clackamas.
